Annie Awards 2012
Rango, de Gore Verbinski, foi o grande vencedor da 39ª edição do Annie Awards, realizado no UCLA Royce Hall, em Los Angeles. O prêmio, considerado uma prévia do Oscar, é concedido pela International Animated Film Society às melhores animações do cinema (longa e curta), TV (produções e comercial) e videogame.
A animação, cujo personagem principal é dublado por Johnny Depp (Piratas do Caribe - Navegando em Águas Misteriosas), ganhou os prêmios de Melhor Animação, Edição, Personagem e Roteiro.
Kung Fu Panda 2, da Dreamworks, era o favorito da noite, mas levou apenas de Melhor Direção de Arte e Melhor Diretor para Jennifer Yuh Nelson.
Os dois longas concorrem ao Oscar 2012 de Melhor Animação.
As Aventuras de Tintin: O Segredo do Licorne, de Spielberg, também recebeu dois Annies, de Melhor Música e Efeitos. A produção ficou de fora do prêmio da Academia, mas ganhou o Globo de Ouro.
O curta animada Adam and Dog, de Minkyu Lee, levou o troféu da categoria.
Na categoria Filme em Live-Action, Transformers: O Lado Oculto da Lua levou o prêmio de Efeitos, enquanto Planeta dos Macacos: A Origem recebeu o de Melhor Personagem.
Na categoria de Vozes, Bill Nighy foi o vencedor por Papai Noel, em Operação Presente, e Jeff Bennett ganhou o mesmo prêmio na categoria TV pelo pinguim Kowalski da série animada Madagascar.
A cerimônia foi conduzida pelo ator Patton Oswalt (Young Adult).
